This is quite an ‘old one’, but as I notice — it is still ‘there somewhere’ in people’s minds, and it has a potential to have a big impact on people’s lives. And the issue I’ll be writing about is how the rules that religions impose on what marriages should be like, are causing a great amount of problems and unnecessary abuse. And therefore, how religion supports abuse, as religion is an abusive and misleading institution.
I’ve been raised in Europe, and in my country catholicism is the dominant religion, so I’ll be addressing this point from this perspective. So, what’s the big deal with having something against the church supporting marriage and presenting guidelines and rules about what marriage should be like? Well there is something that is completely unacceptable, and is similar in it’s nonsense to the church’s position regarding not using condoms. Why? Well, how irresponsible it is to tell people to not have sex before marriage, or to not leave a marriage because it’s ‘bad’? I mean, people want and need to have sex, and will go far out of their way to satisfy that need, and can get blinded by that desire. Now the catholic church is telling people to not have sex, before marriage. This way they are making people to go into lifelong commitments, without being clear about what they’re doing — because they are driven by the desire to have sex, and the church tells them to not satisfy that need until they make a commitment that will have consequences, and will not be so easy to get out from. On top of that the church doesn’t accept breaking marriages.
It is a clear nonsense, but the stupidity of this kind of approach isn’t the problem itself. What is the problem, is that this way people get caught into relationships that they wouldn’t really went to if they could see more clearly, and wouldn’t be blinded by this desire for sex. I mean it’s common sense, that people before making a commitment, should really spend time with each other, and should know each other for at least few years in day-to-day close proximity to make such a decision. And the catholic way of approaching this issue is a complete misunderstanding, that can make people miserable and full of regret for the rest of their lives. I mean — this is freakin’ simple. The fact that people followed those kinds of rules, just shows how people are unable to use common sense at all. And that we really require to work on our common sense, and on how we see reality, because it has never worked. If you think you’re smarter then all other people, then you’re blinded by your ego the same way how those who followed those rules were. Because that is how we are separated in this world. Each one of us, is able to see only a part of reality, and is able to see how others are blind to the part that we might understand. But in this state, we don’t see or realize that we are blind in the exact same way to something else. And someone else is looking at us in the exact same way. And in the end, we never, ever get to conclusions together, and we don’t develop common sense.
I mean, come on — how long has it been for our civilization, and we still have such insane rules that people are following? The church tells people to not use condoms? Or to not have sex before marriage? Can’t we use common sense, and decide what’s best for us? We have research — psychology tells us that people can be blindly in love for 1~2 years. So why would we want to add up the ‘no sex before marriage thing’ on top of that — to make ourselves blind even more? That is clear stupidity, and an absolute lack of common sense. It’s all based on believing in our thoughts and emotions. But our emotions and thoughts can be manipulated. I mean, it’s freaking simple. It happens all the time in the modern world (like TV, commercials). Bah — we even pay for getting our emotions and feelings manipulated, and we call that entertainment.
Why can’t we add 1 to 1, and see ourselves in every other living thing that we encounter? We could then actually learn from others, and from their experience. Instead we constantly repeat the same mistakes. The dichotomy between the young and old generation is constant. Even though they young are driven by their ego, believing that they can be and achieve anything — while the older generation is trying to tell the young about the mistakes they did, and prevent them from doing that, but since they’re also driven by their egos — the young will never listen. Then the young turns into their parents, doing exactly same, and the next young generation will do exactly the same what their parents did. Which is pretty messed up. Because we never get to an understanding and a common ground. It’s constantly the same cycle repeating itself. And making it impossible for people to establish common sense approach to life — because it would require everyone to experience a variety of situations, so that they would be able to develop a realistic view on life, where they would be able to agree.
Which is why we have to learn to see ourselves in everyone else, and learn to put aside our egos, and actually learn something about life from each other. Because life is currently a subject to a continuous cycle, of which we’re only a part of for a short time. And life’s ‘great mystery’ is constantly here, we are it with every other living being (plant, bug or animal). And whether life will be heaven or hell, is only in life’s hands. And guess what — out of all the species on earth, the human is the super-hero among other beings. It has supreme powers and abilities (I mean compare yourself to a plant or an animal). While, we don’t see ourselves as responsible — instead we follow rules, that other people told us god has created? Isn’t it just a try to run away from the responsibility we have as superior beings on this planet? Same with aliens and ufos saving us. It’s just our mass want for someone else to take the responsibility for ourselves and ‘fix’ everything for us. Which only creates more pain, and abuse and allows some brainwashed preachers to confuse and mislead people into harming themselves, because they don’t promote taking self-responsibility, but just following some rules. When will we actually ‘take the wheel and drive’, taking self-responsibility? Because so far we’re driving in a car where lunatics are in the driver’s seat. I would strongly suggest not to get into that car — I know that I won’t. And take note that at least I’m actually suggesting something I will do, not like catholic priests talking about what rules to follow in regards to marriage.
